“Tree Top” is a series of alternative landscape photographs inspired from traditional Chinese painting. The combination of photography characteristics and the philosophy behind Chinese paintings creates here, a unique photographic expression.

The graphical composition is focused on the forms and the shapes of each treetop. The work is focused on the traditional Chinese painting aesthetics and philosophy. As one can see, the color tone, texture and minimalism that is well known in traditional Chinese painting is recreated thanks to the overexposed and blurry images.  The “blank” space around the trees helps creating not just the mood of each image, but also the sense of space. However, the work isn’t just a homage to traditional Chinese painting.

Standing in between photography and painting, “Tree Top” combines not only the respective elements to express the traditional artistic conception and spiritual expression known in Chinese painting but also the artist’s own version of inner-peace and serenity.  As Hermann Hesse, a German poet and painter, once said: ‘‘Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth.”
